The Bordeaux Guy

Multi-tiered platform

Singularly focused

  • Bordeaux and French wine education
  • Events
  • Wine, food, travel, lifestyle newsletter
  • Targeted wine campaigns
  • Producer and property focused
  • Retail and restaurant collaborations
  • Commercial development

Education enlightens. Tastings attract. A personal touch engages.

what we do

  • Austin Texas-based Bordeaux and French wine platform.
  • Education, curated tastings, editorial content, and commercial collaboration.
  • The platform is backed by a real-life person. Our approach is independent, personal, practical, and sales driven.
  • We work with wine enthusiasts, collectors, retailers, restaurants, importers, négociants, producers, and other wine professionals to make Bordeaux more accessible, better understood, and ultimately easier to sell.
  • Our goal is to help people enjoy life by introducing them to excellent wines.

Bordeaux can be complex. It does not need to be intimidating.

  • A distribution of 5,000 with an active readership of 3,000 in Texas and beyond.
  • Above industry average open and click rate.
  • Established credibility, useful information, and a long-standing relationship with readers.
  • Covering Bordeaux, wine at large, producers, vintages, market observations, restaurants, travel, and more. Last newsletters here.
  • Direct avenue to enroll in events and tastings, advertise restaurant and retail programs, launch wine promotions and sales, and other targeted commercial campaigns.

Communication that informs, entertains, and sells.

  • Bordeaux, appellations, classifications, grape varieties and winemaking
  • Terroir and vintage conditions
  • Property histories and ownership
  • Winemakers and the people behind the estates
  • Vertical tastings
  • Wine service and event management
  • Wine sourcing through importers or preferred retail partners
  • Active sales support

Serious wine without making wine unnecessarily serious.

I am interested in working with producers and other wine professionals looking to develop their presence in Texas and, where appropriate, more broadly in the United States. Possible collaborations include:

  • Property or portfolio introductions
  • Targeted newsletter campaigns
  • Consumer tastings
  • Trade tastings
  • Private dinners and events
  • Restaurant programs
  • Educational content
  • Market testing
  • Longer-term representation, sponsorship, or market-development projects

Seeking synergy between my customers and your wine.

  • I have a long-standing passion for Bordeaux. I tasted all five 1855 First Growths by the time I was twenty. While I have explored many other regions and wines, I keep coming back to Bordeaux.
  • Bordeaux, like much of the wine industry, is navigating a difficult market environment. Yet a category built on this much history, depth, quality, and cultural relevance is ripe for rediscovery.
  • In the United States especially, many consumers are moving toward a simple idea: Drink less. Drink better.
  • This creates an opportunity for Bordeaux, particularly in the middle and upper segments. The quality is there. The challenge is to help the consumers navigate their selections with clarity and confidence.
  • Based on my customers’ interests, I see particular opportunity in the $35 to $100 retail range and $125 to $500 on restaurant lists.
  • Austin, Texas provides a practical market in which to test wines, positioning, pricing, events, and communication before extending successful programs more broadly across Texas and other U.S. markets.
  • A recent targeted offer for Les Allées de Cantemerle 2016, for example, generated sales of above thirty cases through a local retail partner.

Qualified audience. Measurable results.
